Aeration occurs in the spring and fall

Aerification is complete and turned out great due to our amazing grounds crew. Aerification is a process done during spring green up, greens recover best when they are in growing season. In summary, aerifiying helps water, oxygen, and nutrients have a faster route to the roots through the sand filled holes to promote growth.

Hollow tine aerficiation is the process of pulling out a core as opposed to using solid tines which push dirt down. Hollow tines are great for removing thatch, an organic matter that can block water and nutrients from reaching the roots.

Dirt cores, when pulled, are spread around the course to help promote grass growth in areas. Once these are pulled and cleared from the greens surface and top-dress sand is placed on the green.

Full top-dress, after the sand is dropped on the greens, we then drag the sand by brush to fill the holes on the green. This will help to make the playing surface even once again. Sand will help due to it’s course texture which will allow water and oxygen to pass through it to the roots.
